Treasury of Singapore Tales by ACT 3 Theatrics

We were fortunate to watch such an interesting performance by ACT 3 on 30th July at the Esplanade.

They presented 2 local legends - Swordfish and Badang. the live drama blended with Asian-flavoured theatre elements like wayang kulit, pugilistics, puppets and gamelan to unravel these Singapore folktales.

After the play, there was a short interactive session with the audience. The actors answered many of the pupils' questions like 'How do yo make the banana trunk?' or 'what is the swordfish made of?'

After that we had a short break for lunch, followed by the tour of the Esplanade. When we went up to the top of the 'durian', it was a breathtaking sight! We took our class photos and soon it was time to go back to school.

Speak Good English Movement (SGEM) Carnival

The school conducted the SGEM Carnival last week. Our class took part in the carnival - enjoying the various booths which promises lots of prizes. tokens. I am sure they have learnt a lot from the booths that they have visited. At the Speaker's corner, Raihan and Zul received their cute tokens after they spoke for about 2 minutes about their favourite pet. Congrats!

Fruittie Veggie Bites Programme

( Nice design? I designed it together with the school's TA)

Dear parents/guardian.

Fruits and vegetables provide many essential vitamins and minerals for healthy living, and that eating a diet rich in fruit and vegetables can lower the risk of and prevent a number of serious illnesses and health problems, such as cancer and high blood pressure.

As the childhood and adolescent years are imperative in the formation and inculcation of positive health and health-related habits, our school is partnering with Health Promotion Board to organize the Fruttie Veggie Bites Programme from 24 July to 26 August. This programme seeks to promote the consumption of fruit and vegetables and reinforce the importance of consuming these among the young. With this programme, students will be issued with a card each time they purchase a fruit or vegetables from the school canteen. Students then consolidate their cards as a class effort and the class with the highest fruit and vegetable intake will be rewarded. The cards also contain simple messages to reiterate the importance of eating a variety of fruit and vegetables.

Please reinforce this health message to your child by encouraging your child to include fruit and vegetables in their daily diets and also encourage them to consume 2 servings of fruit and 2 servings of vegetables every day. Do not hesitate to contact Mr Md Faizal Md Razak if you have any enquiries.

Dear pupils,

Don't forget to collect those cute small cards when you buy fruit or vegetables!

Fruity Day

Welcome Back! There are lots of activities coming your way...

Dear pupils/parent/guardian,

I am sure you are all energised and ready to learn more things in this term. I would like to update you on the following matters:

1) Speech & Drama
Our Speech and Drama continues this term, and it will be held every Monday after recess. I hope you will enjoy the sessions, and don't forget - you will be performing on stage in August!

2) Spelling
After conducting a short survey with the class, it was decided that spelling will be held every Friday rather than Wednesday. This is because some of the pupils complained they need more time to study their spelling list....
Well... I hope that would mean your spelling results should get better!

3) Swimming Lessons

For those who have signed up for swimming lessons, don't forget that it is held every Friday. Please bring the necessary things needed for the swimming class as communicated with your parents. Here are some of the pictures that I have taken:

4) Art & Craft - Animal Mask using paper plates

In line with our English lesson on 'sounds animals make', we have created a simple face mask to depict the faces of animals. Using this mask, pupils will be able to make the sounds of the animals which they have made, and linking again to the next topic on the homes of the animals, the pupils will recall the names of the animals' homes.

5) Open House 2008

For those who attended the Open House, I am sure you are all impressed at the wide range of activities and performances by the gallant pupils of Zhenghua. Some of our 2G pupils performed the Chinese Dance and Dare Embassadors showed us their dance skills. Congrats to the performers! We really enjoyed the show!

6) Our 2G Plants

The good news is that our plants have grown tall! As the plants have outgrown the pots, the Science Department have planted for all the P2 classes another set of seedlings. I will update all of you on the schedule of watering the plants once it is confirmed.

7) 2G Times - get ready for our very first class magazine!
